Azgalor
Azgalor is the second boss you encounter at the Horde camp. To get to the Horde camp from the pre-raid zone, go to the portal on the immediate right. To get to the Horde camp from the Alliance camp, follow the path on the west side of the camp.
Abilities
Katz’rogal has about 4,500,000 hit points. He has four abilities that the raid needs to be aware of and handle.
Cleave: Azgalor does a frontal cleave, which does a high amount (about 10,000 points) of damage to his target.
Doom: This spell is cast every 45 to 50 seconds on a target and places a debuff on a random target. This debuff lasts for 20 seconds before killing the target. When the player dies, a Lesser Doomgaurd spawns on the corpse of the player.
?Lesser Doomgaurd – This mob must be tanked and has 62,000 hit points.
Howl of Azgalor: An AoE silence that lasts for 5 seconds which can be resisted and avoided using abilities such as Divine Shield and Ice block. Azgalor casts this about every15 to 20 seconds after the fight begins.
Rain of Fire: This AoE spell rains fire on targets within a 20 yard radius, doing 1,500 to 2,000 fire damage to all targets in the area every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. It also applies a debuff to targets that deals 1,250 fire damage to the target every second for 5 seconds. It can be avoided with abilities such as Cloak of Shadows, Divine Shield, and Ice block.
The Pull and Position
Start the event by talking to Thrall. After killing the eight waves of mobs, Azgalor invades the camp. He is usually tanked near the open area off to the left near the tauren warriors. Misdirect him as soon as possible so he does not engage Thrall or other NPCs. If you need extra recovery time, use rogues to distract him.
Spread the raid out so that chunks of players do not take damage from the AoE fire at once or are moving out of the fire at the same time. Meanwhile, have the off-tank and healers position themselves a few yards in front of Thrall. Thrall and the NPCs surrounding him can engage the doomgaurds but make sure he is away from Azgalor. When a player had the Doom debuff, instruct them to run to this player so the tank can quickly pick up the doomgaurds and tank them. Some guilds use two off-tanks while others use one.
Battle
Waves
Once again you have 8 waves of mobs to handle before Azgalor invades the camp. Each wave contains anywhere from 12 to 18 mobs. The mobs preceding Azgalor are abominations, banshees, crypt fiends, fel stalkers, frost wyrms, gargoyles, ghouls, giant infernals, and shadowy necromancers. Their abilities are explained in the introduction to this instance. The new mobs seen in the waves are the giant infernals and fel stalkers. The raid has about 2 minutes to kill the wave before the next wave spawns and attacks with the exception of wave 8, which gives about 3 minute of recovery time between the wave and the boss.
Horde NPCs are similar to the Alliance NPCs in that they do average damage but have a great deal of hit points. Unlike the Alliance camp, they are scattered around the Horde camp so keep an eye out for wandering mobs that may target some of the NPCs. The tauren warriors do an AoE war stomp and do considerable damage. Try to keep these alive. Once again, engage the NPCs by dragging one of the weaker mobs to the tauren warriors and to Thrall.
Azgalor
Two abilities make this fight particularly challenging: Howl of Azgalor and Doom. Once Azgalor is engaged, he begins to cast Howl of Azgalor every 15 to 20 seconds. To offset this, keep the main tank healed to 100 percent at all times and keep HoTs on him so that the does not die during silence. If keeping him up is a problem, tell the tank to not to attack during the silence the tank’s threat generation allows for it. Azgalor hits relatively hard so do whatever you can to keep the main tank topped off.
About 45 seconds into the fight, Azgalor casts his first Doom onto a target. Once this one is cast, he’ll repeat it every 45 seconds until the fight ends. The Doom debuff kills the affected player after 20 seconds. The player must run to the doomguard tanking spot before he or she dies. To offset the number of players that are dead, use Soulstones on Doom targets as well as Combat Resurrection spells. At the end of the fight, there may be as many as 4 Lesser Doomgaurds actively being tanked by the doomgaurd tank.
It can take around 4 to 5 minutes to kill Azgalor, which means about 8 dead players and 8 Lesser Doomgaurds. Come prepared to resurrect the players. Both melee and ranged players need to be aware of the Rain of Fire AoE because it is likely that an unlucky silence could occur before or after the AoE is cast. Keeping these abilities in mind, Azgalor is an easy fight once your raid learns it. Once you kill Azgalor, it is time to move to the Night Elf camp.
