Moroes
Moroes is the second boss within Karazhan. He is located in the banquet hall, which from the ground floor entrance area, is up the stairs and to the left. He is the tower steward and is currently attending to four banquet guests.
Abilities
Moroes is an undead rogue who is immune to taunt. Moroes is standing in the banquet room with four guests that can be any of the following combinations.
Baron Rafe Drueger
This retribution paladin can be crowd controlled. His Hammer of Justice ability stuns the target. He can be shackled, feared, and trapped but the crowd control must be exceptional on this mob since he can use his Hammer of Justice ability immediately after becoming active.
Baroness Dorothea Milstipe
Shadow priests have an annoying Mana Burn ability and the Baroness is a shadow priest. It works as a traditional Mana Burn removing 6,000 mana points.
Lady Catriona Von’linda
This healing priest is not shy about healing Moroes and the other guests. Her armor and hit points are low so she should be killed.
Lady Keira Berrybuck
The lady is a holy paladin. Her damage is inconsequential but she casts Blessing of Might on the entire group, which can be dispelled. She, like Lady Catriona, heals the group.
Lord Crispin Ference
Protection warriors pose the least threat but they take forever to die. Lord Crispin Ference is no exception. He has a large amount of hit points, is wearing his best plate armor, and has a Shield Wall ability.
Lord Robin Daris
Mortal Strike warriors are annoying in arenas and in the banquet room. His Mortal Strike and Whirlwind abilities are dangerous since they can kill players. He needs to be crowd controlled until most of the other mobs are died.
Moroes
Blind – Moroes casts this poison on the second aggro target. The affected player wanders around confused and incapacitated. Blind can and should be dispelled immediately.
Enrage – When Moroes’ hit points drops down to 30 percent, his attack speed and melee damage hits increase significantly.
Garrote – This DoT does about 1,500 melee damage points every 3 seconds for at least 5 seconds. Both dwarven stoneform and paladin’s Blessing of Protection spells remove Garrote.
Gouge – Gouge simply incapacitates a player.
Vanish – Moroes literally disappears during the fight only to reappear and put the Garrote DoT onto a random player.
The Pull and Position
The main tank runs in and pulls Moroes just in front of the stage’s staircase. The off-tank also runs in behind the main tank. The off tank should pick up the protection warrior if he is present and build aggro on Moroes. Meanwhile, the crowd controllers start crowd controlling their mobs.
Battle
Two tanks are needed to the fight. Any mobs that are not being killed need to be crowd controlled using whatever crowd control spells are available to the raid. Now this fight will only have four guests so base the kill order on what combination the raid group receives. Ironically, ladies die first. The two healers are the priority followed by the shadow priest. After the healers and shadow priest, kill the retribution paladin and/or mortal strike warrior. Kill the protection warrior last. Excluding the protection warrior, kill all of the adds before starting to damage Moroes.
Remove the Blind debuff when Moroes places it on the tanks. Moroes vanishes and then reappears and to apply Garrote to a random player. This can be removed using the abilities mentioned in the above section. At 30 percent, his damage increase and must be killed before healers run out of mana.
The more crowd control available to the group, the easier this fight is. If the combination the raid group gets is too challenging, leave the instance for at least 30 minutes and return. The combination should change.
Maiden Of Virtue
The Maiden of Virtue is the third boss in Karazhan. She is another optional boss that is not required but easy. From Moroes' room, the raid group backtracks into the room with the dancers. Most of these mobs can be skipped by skirting the room. Go through the entrance, up the stairs and through the next entrance on the right. The Maiden of Virtue is down the hallway to the right. Ironically her room is at the end of a hallway filled with courtesans.
Abilities
The Maiden of Virtue encounter does not have phases. The raid group must deal with the same abilities throughout the fight. She is immune to taunt and has under 500,000 hit points. She melees plate wearers for the maximum of 3,500 damage points every 2 seconds and can do 4,800 crushing blows if not blocked.
Holy Fire: This spell deals an initial burst of 4,000 fire damage points and places a DoT on players that does 1,750 fire damage points on targets every 2 seconds for 12 seconds. It has a one second cast and can be dispelled.
Holy Consecration: This spell does 360 holy damage points to players within an AoE area that is 12 yards around her for every 3 seconds and silences players for one second.
Holy Wrath: Cast on a random target, this spell is an AoE holy damage spell that chains to other players. It is an instant cast and on a 20 second cool down.
Repentance: This spell stuns the raid group, excluding the main tank, for 12 seconds and does 2,500 holy damage points to each raid member. It cannot be dispelled but the stun is removed if the player takes damage.
The Pull and Position
The tank runs in and engages Maiden and keeps her in the center of the room. The room is circular, with eight columns around it. Position all ranged and caster players in the area between these columns or place them with their backs to the columns. They need to be far enough away from the center to avoid Holy Ground. Make sure that everyone is within line of sight (LoS) of healers.
Battle
Melee players have a rough time this fight. They need to avoid too many players taking Holy Wrath damage. To ease healing, rotate in and out so that only one melee player is near the tank at any point during the fight. Make each hit count when in the fight!
Wipes happen due to poor positioning or to Repentance. Positioning should not be a problem if the raid uses the position suggestions in the above section. A paladin can cast Blessing of Sacrifice on the main tank to break the stun for the paladin. This paladin then takes over healing until the rest of the healers are not stunned. Another strategy is to have one healer that stands closer to Maiden but far enough away to avoid Holy Wrath. When Repentance is placed on the raid, the tank drags Maiden to this healer so that Holy Consecration wakes the player. Speaking of healing, keep HoTs on the tanks and dispel Holy Fire as soon as it is cast.
The tank, melee players, and healers all need to work together this fight. Melee rotates to ease healing strain and the tank uses abilities such as Shield Wall and Last Stand, as well as health potions consumables, to assist healers during stuns. This fight is not that difficult once the positioning is organized and the raid knows what to expect for the fight.
