GOGGLES
Goggles are the trademark of the engineer. Before Burning Crusade, several goggles with decent stats could be made, but they weren't really used by people at the higher end. After Burning Crusade, the epic goggles we can craft are the best head slot items available to nearly all class/talent combos. That is pretty cool, and engineer's across the globe were quite pleased when these goggles were introduced. Not only that, there is already a schematic available in the Sunwell Plateau (25 man raid) that allows you to upgrade your goggles to sport even better stats.
If you want to learn your classes' goggles schematic, you need to have 350 engineering skill and learn it from a Master Engineering trainer. Thats it, easy enough. You can only learn the schematic appropriate to your class.
The materials required for each of the goggles types are almost exactly the same, aside from a different type of raw gem being used. The material list can be found below this info table:
Epic Goggles

In addition to the statistics shown above, all goggles have two effects. They will display the gas clouds you can harvest with the Zappthrottle mote Extractor on the minimap and you can zoom in your view by rightclicking the goggles.

Gem: The type of gem is dependant on the goggles you are crafting, each pair of goggles require a different gem. All are rare quality gems.
Upgraded Goggles
If you are raiding the Sunwell Plateau raid instance, you will have a shot at getting the schematic to upgrade your current goggles. These schematics all require different materials, so they are listed in the table itself.
