2.TALENT DISCUSSION-2.4Restoration

Rank 1
Improved Mark of the Wild
Ranks: 5
Increases the effects of your Mark of the Wild and Gift of the Wild spells by 7% per rank.
A so-so talent. The increase in the buff is nice, but it doesn’t make that much of an overall difference.
Furor
Ranks: 5
Gives you a 20% chance per rank to gain 10 Rage when you shapeshift into Bear or Dire Bear form, or 40 Energy when you shapeshift into Cat form.
Skip this for a pure restoration build. If the feral forms are used by you to escape, then you don’t need the instant rage or energy anyway. For a hybrid build that includes feral abilities, this is great.
Rank 2 (Prereq 5 points in Restoration)
Naturalist
Ranks: 5
Reduces the cast time of your Healing Touch spell by 0.1s per rank and increases the damage you deal with physical attacks in all forms by 2% per rank.
The reduced casting time is worth having. The feral abilities are only good if you’re going to use feral. You can skip this for pure resto. Naturalist is good for PVP and soloing.
Nature's Focus

Gives you a 14% chance per rank to avoid interruption caused by damage while casting the Healing Touch, Regrowth, and Tranquility spells.
If you’re playing pure resto, hopefully you aren’t getting hit! In PVP you will get hit, and this will help. If you’re raiding or group a lot, this is only so-so.
Natural Shapeshifter
Ranks: 3
Reduces the mana cost of shape shifting by 10% per rank.
Why this is even here, instead of the feral tree, is a mystery.
As resto, you have to take 10 points in the above to advance in the resto tree. Naturalist and Nature’s Focus are the choice for a pure resto build.
Rank 3 (Prereq 10 points in Restoration)
Omen of Clarity
Ranks: 1
Instant cast, 120 Mana
Imbues the druid with natural energy. Each of the druid's melee attacks has a chance of causing the caster to enter a Clearcasting state. The Clearcasting state reduces the Mana, Rage, or Energy cost of your next damage or healing spell or offensive ability by 100%. Lasts 30 minutes.
Again, if you’re going to be resto, you don’t want to be hit. So this is more of a ‘oh crap!’ ability than a must-have. If you’re going with a hybrid build of some sort, this is a must-have. (Any feral druid must have this talent!).
Intensity
Ranks: 3
Prerequisite for Nature's Swiftness
Allows 5% of your Mana regeneration per rank to continue while casting and causes your Enrage ability to instantly generate (4/7/10) rage.
Good for a mana-hungry resto build, since you get some mana out of it. Also good if you’re tanking.
Subtlety
Ranks: 5
Reduces the threat generated by your healing spells by 4% per rank.
A must-have for resto druids. In raiding or group play, you do not want threat. In PVP or soloing (soloing resto: contradiction in terms) this talent is useless.

Rank 4 (Prereq 15 points in Restoration)
Tranquil Spirit
Ranks: 5
Reduces the mana cost of your Healing Touch and Tranquility spells by 2% per rank.
Pure resto builds require this talent. Mana management is vital when healing.
Improved Rejuvenation
Ranks: 3
Prerequisite for Improved Regrowth
Increases the effect of your Rejuvenation spell by 5% per rank.
For pure resto, this is a must-have.
Rank 5 (Prereq 20 points in Restoration)
Nature's Swiftness
Ranks: 1
Requires: 3 points in Intensity
Instant cast, 3 minute cooldown
When activated, your next Nature spell becomes an instant cast spell.
This is a must have for a resto build. In raids or PVP situations, this lets you get off two quick heals or crowd control spells that can save the day.
Gift of Nature
Ranks: 5
Prerequisite for Swiftmend
Increases the effect of all healing spells by 2% per rank.
A must-have for the pure resto build.
Improved Tranquility
Ranks: 2
Reduces threat generated by your Tranquility spell by 50% per rank.
Not that much is gained form Improved Tranquility. Lowering your threat is always good, but you may not notice any gain from this.
Rank 6 -- requires 25 points in Restoration
Improved Regrowth
Ranks: 5
Requires: 3 points in Improved Rejuvenation
Increases the critical effect chance of your Regrowth spell by 10% per rank.
Don’t depend on hitting a critical on healing; you never know when they’ll hit, and quite often they result in ovehealing. Don’t take this talent unless you have points to burn.
Empowered Touch
Ranks: 2

Your Healing Touch spell gains an additional 10% per rank of your bonus healing effects.
A must have, since it increases your heals.
Rank 7 (Prereq 30 points in Restoration)
Swiftmend
Ranks: 1
Requires: 5 points in Gift of Nature
Cost: 498 Mana, Range: 40 yd, Casting Time: Instant, Cooldown: 15 sec
Consumes a Rejuvenation or Regrowth effect on a friendly target to instantly heal them an amount equal to 12 seconds of Rejuvenation or 18 seconds of Regrowth.
This is useful in PVP and raids. It works as an ‘oh crap’ button to keep up a tank that may be about to die. Pure resto druids should take this and lean to time it.
Living Spirit
Ranks: 3
Increases your total Spirit by 5%.
One of these days, Blizzard has promised to make Spirit usefull. Right now, its not. And 5% better crap is still crap. You can get potions, food, or enchants to increase spirit, if you want it increased, and spend these points elsewhere.
Natural Protection
Ranks: 3
Your critical strike chance with all spells is increased by 1% per rank and melee and ranged critical strikes against you cause 4% less damage per rank.
Not the best way to spend talents points. Hopefully you aren’t getting hit. But this does offer better damage output, and lessening of crit damage. This is good for PVP.
Rank 8 (Prereq requires 35 points in Restoration)
Empowered Rejuvenation
Ranks: 5
Prerequisite for Tree of Life
The bonus healing effects of your healing over time spells is increased by 4% per rank.
This is great to have. More healing is the goal for resto.
Rank 9 (Prereq 35 points in Restoration)
Tree of Life
Ranks: 1
Requires: 5 points in Empowered Rejuvenation
872 mana, instant cast

Transforms the Druid into the Tree of Life Form. While in this form, you increase healing done by 25% of your total Spirit on all party members within 40 yards, your movement speed is reduced by 20%, and you can only cast Swiftmend and healing over time spells, but the mana cost of these spells is reduced by 20%. The act of shapeshifting frees the caster of Polymorph and Movement Impairing effects.
If you want to heal in groups and raids, this is a must-have. This is terrible for PVP, the tree-of-life form just cries out, “healer, kill me first!”. When you are level 70 and participating in raids, most guilds will want a resto druid with Tree of Life.
