3.1.9. Firemaking
A fire is mostly use to cook fish and meat (refer back up to the fishing section on
details about cooking fishes or the cooking section on details about cooking meat). This
section will mostly tell you about how to make a fire and the experiences you'll get in fire
making.
To make a fire, you'll need some logs (can be obtained by chopping down a tree
with a hatchet) and a tinderbox (can be bought in general stores). Just simply drop the
logs down on the ground and use a tinderbox on it to make a fire. The chance of creating
a fire is based on your fire making level.
Logs

Training

Start off making fires from regular logs until level 15. It might take awhile since
your chance of successfully lighting a fire is not very good. After level 15, continue on
making fires out of oak logs until level 30. Then make willows. Stick with willows from then
on if you are not a member. If you are, then you can move onto making fires out of maple
logs.

Tips

- To make it easier on yourself, you can just simply use a Tinderbox with a log in your
inventory and your character will light the logs on the ground.
- Firemaking requires the use of woodcutting, so the higher your woodcutting level is the
faster you’ll be able to train your firemaking level.
- When you have a full inventory of logs and you intend to make fires with all of them then
make sure that your path west doesn’t have any obstacles blocking the way because as
you successfully light a fire your character will move 1 pace west from where you were
originally standing.
3.1.10. Crafting
Crafting consists of making ceramics, weaving leather accessories, making gold
jewelries, working with silver, glass-making (members), crafting staves (members), and
Dragonhide armors (members). Crafting is not really a good skill to make money with, but
it does have its advantages.

Pottery

You have the choice of making either pottery or leather accessories when you first
start crafting. I prefer leveling with leather because I think that working with leather is
much faster than pottery.
The first step to making potteries is digging up clay. As you can see, clay is the
essential item you'll need in pottery working. The other material is a bucket or jug filled
with water. The potteries that can be made from this skill are use to hold ingredients or
food in cooking.
Steps on how to make potteries:
1) - Get/Mine a Clay ore.
2) - Get/Buy a bucket or jug from the General Store and fill it up with water.
3) - Mix the two together to create Soft Clay.
4) - Bring the Soft Clay to a Pottery Wheel and use the Soft Clay on it. Then choose the
kind of pottery you want to make.
5) - Use the Unfired pottery on a Pottery Oven. Wait awhile, and your character will
reclaim the pot. There is a chance that the pottery might break while heating up in the
oven.

Leather

Leather making is kind of like smithing, but the difference is that instead of making
weapons/armors from hard materials, you'll be making equipable light accessories for
archers. The first item you can make with leather is Gloves.
Steps on how to make leather accessories:
1) - Get a Cow Hide from killing Cows.
2) - Go to a Tanner (on the f2p world, you can find one in the Crafting Guild or in a house
in Al Kharid). Exchange your Cow Hide for a piece of leather. One gp is required for each
exchange.
3) - Get/Buy a needle and a thread. You can get these two items in a Crafting shops
(either the one in Rimmington or Al Kharid). Each thread can be used to make five leather
equipments. The needle has unlimited use.
4) - Use the leather with the needle and then choose what kind of leather accessory you
want.
Leather Accessories

Note: To make Studded Leather Body or Studded Leather Chaps, you have to smith
some studs from steel bars and use the studs on the item.

Gems

Gems are items that you may randomly encounter while mining. Gems with higher
quality are even more rarely found.
Cutting gems will give you crafting exp. Gems are use as special add-ons to
making gold jewelry that can boost up a jewelries’ power. You can cut gems with a chisel
which can be bought from a General Store.

Gold Jewelry

Rings, necklaces, and amulets can all be crafted from a gold bar. You will need
either a ring mould, necklace mould, or amulet mould to craft each jewelry. You may even
add a gem to a gold jewelry. To do this, make sure you have the gem in your inventory
when you are about to craft the jewelry.
Steps on how to make Gold Jewelry:
1) - Smith yourself a gold bar from a gold ore.

2) - Use the gold bar on a furnace and choose which jewelry you want to make. Make
sure that you have that jewelry's mould in order to do this.
3) - Optional: When you are doing step 2, the game will ask you if you want to add a gem
in it. If you do, be sure that you have a gem in your inventory before proceeding. You have
to be a member to add a gem to a ring.
4) - Optional: If you made a ring or amulet that has a gem in it, you can choose to enchant
it. Enchanted rings and amulets will add special powers to the player who wears it. To
enchant a jewelry, you will have to use magic. You have to be a member in order to
enchant rings.

Symbols

The only 2 accessories that you can make with a silver bar are Holy Symbols and
Unholy Symbols. Silver bars can be made from refining silver ores. You can get silver
ores from mining. If you have an Unblessed Holy Symbol or an Unblessed Unholy
Symbol, you can string them with a ball of wool to wear them. If you do string a symbol

and have a Stringed Holy Symbol, you can bring it to Brother Jered in the first floor of the
Monastery (Prayer guilde) for him to bless it, or if you have a Stringed Unholy Symbol, you
can bring that to Spirit of Scorpius located in the graveyard south of the observatory and
he will bless it for you. Blessed symbols will help boost up your status, mostly in prayer
bonuses.
Steps on how to make Symbols:
1) - Mine or buy a silver ore.
2) - Get/Buy a Holy Mould either from a Crafting Store or in the crafting guild.
3) - Refine the silver ore by using it on a furnace.
4) - Use the silver bar on the furnace to choose to make either a Symbol of Zamorak
(Unholy Symbol) or Symbol of Saradomin (Holy Symbol). Free to play players can only
make Symbol of Saradomin.
5) - Optional: You can choose to string the Unstrung Symbol by buying a shear, cutting
the wool off of a sheep, and then using the wool on a Spinning Wheel to make a ball of
wool, which then can be use on the Unstrung Symbol to string it. This way you can wear
the Symbol and get its special power if it's blessed.
6) - Optional: As I have mentioned above, you can bring the Stringed Holy Symbol to
Brother Jered in the first floor of the Monastery for him to bless it for you, or if you have a
Stringed Unholy Symbol, you can bring that to Spirit of Scorpius in the graveyard south of
the observatory for him to bless it. You have to wear the Symbol to get its effect.

*Glass

If you are a member then you have the ability to craft glass wares. The glasses
you can make are Molten glass, Beer Glass, Vial, and Uncharged Orbs.
Steps on how to make glassware;
1) - Get a bucket (can be bought in a General Store).
2) - Get a Glassblowing Pipe (There's a spawn point in a house south of the entrance to
the dungeon in the island of Entrana).
3) - Get a Seaweed (can be fished).
4) - Cook your seaweed on a range.
5) - Go to a sand pit and use the bucket on the sand to pick some up.
6) - Use either the bucket of sand or Cooked Seaweed on a furnace and you'll get Molten
Glass.
7) - Use the Glassblowing Pipe on the Molten Glass and choose what you glass you want
to make.

*Dragonhide

Dragonhide armors can be made from the skin of colored dragons. Each colorname
dragon will give you its color of dragonhide hide. Each dragon will drop one hide
when they die. Dragons are hard to kill so make sure your combat level is high enough if
you are thinking about getting some.
Steps on how to make Dragonhide armors:
1) - Get a colored hide.
2) - Go to a Tanner. He'll take away your dragon hide and exchange you a dragon leather
if you pay him 20gps.
3) - Buy a needle and thread from a crafting store. Use the needle with the dragon hide.
Choose what kind of armor you prefer to make.
Making Dragonhide armors

Hint: If you want to smelt, forge, or do something faster in crafting, you can right click on
the symbol of the item you're making and an option will appear that will let you decide how
many you want to make at a time. For example, say I have 10 silver ores in my inventory.
I can then just click to use a silver ore on a furnace, right-click on the silver bar, and then
choose to smelt 10. My character will automatically smelt the silver ores one after another
until I have ran out of them.
