All the skills in Runescape Classic are also available in Runescape. However, the
skills in Runescape are much easier to train and you can get more benefits with each one.
The key to leveling up each skill is time.
Tip: For Worlds 1, 2, 3, 26, and 29, any obtainable item features (ores from rocks,
spawning item points, logs from trees, etc.) will respawn faster than on other worlds.
3.1.1. Ranging
Ranging is a skill consisting of the use of the bow and arrow. Ranging in
Runescape is no different than ranging in RS Classic. However, in RS, you will have three
choices of style you can choose from to shoot at your enemies: accurate, rapid, or
longrange.
Accurate, Rapid: If you chose to attack your enemies in either of these two styles,
you will receive 4 ranging exp and about 1.3 hit point exp for each hit.
Longrange: In Longrange style, for each hit, you will receive 2 range exp and
about 1.3 hp exp. Two points will also be distributed to your character's defense exp.
Types of bow:
The type of bow you use when ranging is really important when deciding how to
attack. For example, using a short bow will fire faster than a longbow. But using longbows
will increase your ranging area. The material that the bow is made out of (i.e. oak, willow,
yew) will, of course, affect your range attack. Non-members can only use up to oak bows.
Members can wield any type.
Types of Bows

Arrows:
The arrows you choose to use when ranging are very decisive. Regular arrows
(bronze arrows) don't have any special benefits. But if you use arrows made from a
certain type of arrow heads, then those arrows will inflict more damage. You may have to
wield a certain bow in order to shoot these arrows (i.e. steel arrows will require you to
wield an oak bow or bows of higher quality).
Types of Arrows

Alternative ranging weapons:
Crossbow

Crossbows require bolts to operate. Regular bolts can be bought from Archery
Shops. Pearl and Opal bolts are made from chiseling pearls and attaching them to normal
bolts. Pearls are only found in oysters; you can catch oysters when fishing. Barbed Tipped
bolts can only be obtained by exchanging 140 Archery Tickets for 30 barbed bolttips from
the mini-game in the Ranging Guild.
Bolts

*Darts:
Darts are made from smithing. You can smith darts after completing the Tourist
Trap quest. Dart tips come in sets of 10, so you’ll get 10 dart tips per bar. You have to
attach feathers to each one before they are usable.
Darts

*Throwing Knives:
Throwing knives are almost the same as darts. They are made from smithing.
Throwing knives are a bit stronger than darts but you can only get 2 throwing knives per
bar.
Throwing Knives

*Javelins and Throwing Axes:
Javelins and Throwing Axes are very unique ranging weapons. They can be
bought at the ranging guild. You throw them at your opponent to inflict damage on them.

Throwing Axes

Cannon:
Cannons are extremely expensive and is a very crucial weapon to have. Cannons
can be bought for 750k after completing the Dwarf Cannon quest. After buying a cannon,
you can assemble and take it apart anytime you desire. It consists of 4 pieces which are
needed to assemble the cannon together. The 4 pieces are the Base, Stands, Barrels,
and Furnace. You can operate the cannon by setting it up on the ground and then loading
it up with up to 20 cannon balls. The balls that the cannon require can be made from
smithing steel bars. You’ll get four cannon balls per steel bar, and a cannon ball mould is
also required when making them. Once you have loaded up the cannon, it will start
spinning and you can fire the cannon at any enemy in site. It can't be used against other
players however.
3.1.2. Magic
Magic is a long range attack skill in Runscape. It is highly effective. Magic involves
the use of runes, staffs, and casting magic on other npcs, players, items, or yourself.
There are both inflicting and non-inflicting spells. Spells that requires law runes are
teleportation and telekinetic spells. Spells using mind, chaos, or death runes are inflicting
spells. There are also many other simple and high level spells consisting the use of other
runes that casts other kind of magic spells.
Earning Experiences
For every spell you use you will get a fixed amount of magic exp. Attack spells,
however, will gain you an additional 2 magic exp for every damage that you inflict on the
enemy. I have provided a chart of magic spells and magic spell exp below.

Spells

Staffs:
Staffs are magic weapons that can increase the power of your magic attack.
Special staffs (such as the Staff of Air, Staff of Fire, etc.), when wielded, have an unlimited
supply of the rune that the staffs' name contains. So for example, say you want to use Fire
Strike, but you only have 6 air runes and 3 mind runes, you can wield a Staff of Fire and
you'll be able to cast that spell 3 times without wasting any fire runes. Special staffs such
as these can be bought in Zaff's Staff Shop in Varrock.
