1.22. Newbie Money-making Tips

When first starting out Runescape, money-making may be a hard and difficult task. However, there are many significant ways to start your cash flow, although I would recommend later on that you get yourself a money-making skill that you can depend on
for a good income (mining, fishing, etc.).

- You can try collecting regular bones and selling them to players who level up their
prayer skill. Bones are cheap, and they aren’t very hard to get either. Regular bones
(the kind that nearly every creatures drop) are worth around 25gps. Good creatures to
kill to obtain bones are low-level ones (goblins, rats, chickens, etc.). Advertise your
merchandise in a major town and also be sure to list the selling price for each bone
(i.e. “selling regular bones, 25gps each”). Bones are plenty easy to get and a player
collecting regular bones to sell them can make 7.5k-10k per hour.

- Most newbies would consider collecting feathers to make money. Feathers aren’t
hard to get. They are dropped by chickens and sold for a price of around 5-10gps
each, depending on the player. Chickens can only be found in chicken pens. The only
other area is in Hemenster (members’ world only) next to the Ranging Guild. Some of
the free world places where chicken pens are located are north of Lumbridge, south
of Falador, or beside the Champions’ Guild (requires access to guild). Collecting
feathers is just one of the many money-making strategy for a newbie, but a player can
easily make 5k-10k per hour obtaining the feathers from chickens. Plus, they’ll be
able to increase their combat skills at the same time.

- If you have started mining, then you should start mining iron ore as your beginning
money-making strategy. Iron ores are easy to get, and sell for a good price of 100gps
each. Iron rocks can be found in many different areas. Some of the best (considered
best because of the short distance from a bank) locations for mining iron is in the
Dwarven Mine, south of Falador nearby the west trail, east of East Ardougne, or in
North Al-Kharid. With this method, getting 15-25k is easily guaranteed.

- If your mining level is below 15 and you aren’t able to mine iron ores, then you should consider taking up mining rune essences. Rune essences are used in runecrafting
and allow players to craft runes. They go for 20-35gps each, although many players
will sell them at the higher range because most money-making miners of rune essences are newbies. Rune essences can be mined out from four main rocks located in the Rune Essence Mining Field. You can go to this field by asking one of the following npcs to teleport you: (Note: In order to go to the Rune Essence Mining Field, you need to have accomplished the Rune Mystery quest.)

- Sedridor in Wizards’ Tower’s basement
- Aubury located in the Rune shop south of Varrock’s east bank
- *Wizard Cromperty in East Ardougne
- *Wizard Distentor in Magic Guild
- *Brimstail the Gnome in Tree Gnome Village underground cave

In this field, you are able to mine as many rune essences as you want. Best of all is that the rune essence rocks doesn’t have to respawn once you obtain a rune essence out of it. You should, of course, mine a full inventory of this before you head back to deposit it at a bank. Step through the portal located next to each rune essence rock to be transported back to their specific location or shop. Hint: only bring a pickaxe when obtaining full inventories of rune essences. This way you can run longer with more rune essences during each trip without wasting more energy. Most f2p players will use Aubury’s Rune Essence Field and are able to mine up to 20k’s worth of rune essences per hour.'

- Most new people may not know their way around the world, so if you do then you can
charge a fee (depending on how far it is from where you are at) to take them to their
destination. Not much of a method that you can use anytime possible, but at least it’s
helpful to others.

- Want to know of a fun way to earn extra items? Drop party is the word for it. First, let’s define what a “drop party” is? A drop party is basically an event that consists of players dropping whatever item(s) they have and players picking them up. Drop parties are usually started by a person or a group of people. The people that try to start a drop party will advertise the text “Drop Party!!!!” in colorful texts. Eventually, many people will follow them creating an extensive train of players along the way towards the destination where the creator of the drop party will take them (usually an empty building or on the outskirt of town). There, people (usually rich people) will drop their spare items (lobsters, ores, runes, etc.) and other players will try and scramble to be the one who acquires it. So if you’re interested, you too can try to start a drop party, and acquire some friends to join so your party won’t be a total dud.

- One of the first way people use to level up their crafting level is by making leather
accessories. In order to do this, the first step they’ll need to do is to accumulate cow hides, and so they may require assistance from someone to help gather the cow
hides for them. You can be of good help to these players. Anyone can gather cow
hides. Cow hides are dropped by cows located in cow pens. Some cow pens are filled
with cow hides left by players that train on cows. There is a cow pen beside the trail
northeast of Lumbridge and another one right next to the Crafting Guild. Cow hides
are priced at around 100-150gps each. Although because of the long distance from a
cow pen to a bank, a player can still make up to 25k’s worth of cow hides per hour.
